Kentucky Derby Legends

The Kentucky Derby is one of the three races that make up horse racing's Triple Crown (also known as Triple Crown of Thouroughbred Racing).

The race has been held at the Churchill Downs racetrack in Louisville, Kentucky since 1875. The race is held on the first Saturday in May. It usually ends the 2-week-long Kentucky Derby Festival.

The race runs for 1 and 1/4 miles, with colts and geldings carrying 126 pounds, and fillies carrying 121 pounds.

It approximately lasts about 2 minutes and is thus dubbed as "The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports."
